A Step Towards Sustainability

As of 2023, Second House Products decided to take a step towards sustainability, showing a dedication to decreasing its environmental impact and carbon footprint. The factory, has put in place a number of initiatives for a greener future.

In the first quarter of 2023, solar panels were installed as a first and primary practice towards sustainability. Now around 25% of the factory runs solely on it. By applying solar power, the company significantly decreased its carbon emissions. With the hopes of increasing the usages of the panels, the energy costs will be cut in the long run.

Moreover, Second House has updated their long-term packaging strategy and embraced the usage of sustainable and recyclable packaging. Laminate packaging ensures product freshness and longevity by acting as an efficient barrier against moisture, air, and light. As per quarter one of 2024, the company will be moving to 46% of total laminate sustainable.

As per paper carton and master case, Second House is operating as 100% recyclable materials.

Additionally, by the end of 2023, Second House has further updated their packaging approach by substituting some plastic jars with glass ones. Seasonings and spices can now be bought in glass containers. In this way, the reduction of plastic waste and the contribution to the circular economy is achieved. Glass jars are completely recyclable and provide a more environmentally friendly option while maintaining the product’s quality.

In addition to the renewable energy and packaging sustainability, Second House has implemented broad waste segregation practices within the factory. Segregation of the waste is taken into account as a way of ensuring proper disposal, recycling of the materials as well as maximizing the resource recovery.

Also, Second House integrated production waste recycling programs into the manufacturing process where they repurpose and recycle a huge percentage of the production waste and excess materials. Through these initiatives, not only does it decrease the environmental footprint but it also drives efficiency and cost effectiveness in the operations.

Second House Products is proud to announce the significant progress towards sustainability as the aim to achieve more and more in the upcoming few years is prominent.
